Primary Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of semi-trailers and trailer equipment
- Complete preventative maintenance services according to manufacturer and company standards
- Conduct DOT inspections and identify required repairs
- Diagnose and repair:
- Air brake systems
- Electrical and lighting systems
- Trailer doors and lift components
- Landing gear (trailer legs)
- Trailer floors
- Suspension systems
- Trailer bodies and structural components
- Interpret work orders, technical manuals, and repair procedures
- Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper operation and safety
- Provide excellent customer service during shop and field service assignments
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and recommend appropriate solutions
- Complete accurate work orders, inspection reports, and service documentation
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical degree or diesel/trailer repair certification preferred
- Previous experience as a diesel mechanic or trailer service technician preferred
- Class A CDL preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Required Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Air brake system diagnosis and repair
- Electrical troubleshooting and repair
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical manuals
- Basic computer skills for diagnostics, web-based training, and electronic work order systems
- Ability to work independently while maintaining high-quality workmanship
- Must provide and maintain a personal set of mechanic's tools
